Dr. Heidi Free is originally from New Jersey and received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with minors in Wildlife and Fisheries, Biological Science, Business Administration, and Environmental Economics from the University of Tennessee. She then went on to obtain her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University. Most recently, she completed a Small Animal Rotating Internship at the University of Illinois and became a Certified Wildlife Rehabilitator in the same year. She is currently working towards obtaining her Master of Science in Biology from East Stroudsburg University. Dr. Free’s special interests include zoological medicine, free-ranging wildlife health, and emergency and critical care.
Dr. Free currently has four fluffy cats – Shea, Fenway, Wrigley, and Aspen. As their names suggest, they love baseball, even Aspen, who is an honorary Colorado Rockies fan. In her free time, Dr. Free enjoys traveling, hiking, visiting the National Parks (has been to 51 out of 63!), letting her sports teams ruin her life, and snorkeling. After five years in the Midwest, she is excited to move back to the East Coast to provide care for all of your furry, feathered, and scaly friends.
